Charles C. Goetsch

Charlie is a magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Brown University, and holds a J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law and an LL.M. graduate degree from the Harvard Law School.
After graduating from Harvard, Charlie clerked for a United States District Court judge in the District of Connecticut, where he was first exposed to FELA (Federal Employers' Liability Act) litigation. He then clerked for a federal appellate judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and one year later joined George J. Cahill, Jr. to form the law firm of Cahill & Goetsch.
Charlie has served as the Chairman of the Civil Justice Advisory Group for the District of Connecticut and as the Chairman of the Connecticut Bar Association's Federal Practice Section, and has moderated numerous seminars on federal court rules and practice. He has been a Visiting Scholar and American Bar Foundation Fellow at the Yale Law School, and is the author of articles and books on legal and historical subjects.
Over the past 30 years, Charlie has devoted himself to protecting the rights of railroad workers and rail unions. He has tried over 50 FELA railroad injury jury cases and argued numerous appeals, including a case before the United States Supreme Court. For many years Charlie served as the coordinator of the highly successful Metro-North Labor Coalition, and he is a recognized leader in the interpretation and enforcement of the Federal Rail Safety Act (FRSA).
