Charles C. Goetsch

Charlie is a magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Brown University, and holds a J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law and an LL.M. graduate degree from the Harvard Law School.
After graduating from Harvard, Charlie clerked for a United States District Court judge in the District of Connecticut, where he was first exposed to FELA (Federal Employers' Liability Act) litigation. He then clerked for a federal appellate judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and one year later joined George J. Cahill, Jr. to form the law firm of Cahill & Goetsch.
Charlie has served as the Chairman of the Civil Justice Advisory Group for the District of Connecticut and as the Chairman of the Connecticut Bar Association's Federal Practice Section, and has moderated numerous seminars on federal court rules and practice. He has been a Visiting Scholar and American Bar Foundation Fellow at the Yale Law School, and is the author of articles and books on legal and historical subjects.
Over the past 30 years, Charlie has handled scores of railroad-related jury trials and appeals in the federal courts of Connecticut and New York, and for many years served as the coordinator for the Metro-North Labor Coalition. He is a member of both the federal and state bars in Connecticut and New York, and has argued before the United States Supreme Court.
Charlie and George are the same age, born one month apart in New Haven, and as partners for over 25 years, the firm has continued to successfully protect the rights of railroad workers. Over the years, their personalities and backgrounds have been a perfect fit, and they relish joining forces to battle the railroads on behalf of their clients. Charlie has tried scores of railroad injury jury cases and argued numerous appeals before the Second Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.
